Pastor's Bio

Pastor Jerry Siler

Pastor Jerry Siler was born in the coal mining community of Pruden, Tennessee. It was there he first heard the gospel message through the efforts of the First Baptist Church of Pruden & Sunday school teacher Bertha Dykes.

He and his family moved to Dayton, OH in the 1950’s. He continued to grow spiritually and was encouraged by several Christians at a small church in his neighborhood. In high school, he was invited to the Dayton Baptist Temple by a cheerleader whom he would later marry, Kay Wilson. He graduated from Stebbins High School, where he was a stand-out athlete. It was at the Dayton Baptist Temple, under the influence of Dr. Gerald O. Fleming, where God called him into the ministry. In 1968 he graduated from Wright State University and soon was a full-time staff member.

Pastor Jerry Siler began his ministry by serving as youth pastor & bus director for the Dayton Baptist Temple for seventeen years. In 1985, he felt the Lord’s leading to start the Cornerstone Baptist Church where he continued to pastor for the following sixteen years.

In early 2001, after much prayer and consideration, the two churches merged. The ministries of Cornerstone Baptist Temple include Temple Christian School, a bus ministry, various youth ministries, weekly television broadcast, and nursing home ministries. At the very heart of Cornerstone, is our home and foreign missions program. We thank God for Pastor Siler’s leadership in these areas.

Pastor Siler and his wife, Kay, have three children (Monty, Tina, & Toby) and seven grandchildren (Mason, Katy, Mitchell, Bo, Brooke, Jarrod, & Jewel).
